About Us
We are Kay and Rachel, teachers and founders of Shoes on Theatre, a children's drama company started in Whitchurch, Hampshire in 2017. We are the small team behind Shoes on Theatre, and it's important to us that our students are immersed into a friendly and open environment.
We met whilst studying Drama at The University of Winchester. A mutual passion of drama and teaching sparked an idea. It wasn't until several years later, after teaching youth theatre groups, teaching English to children in China and some life experience, we came to put Shoes on Theatre on its feet.
We started our workshops with a small group of children and have grown to inspire the love of drama in many children since then. We are so excited to welcome more students to Shoes on Theatre and use drama to encourage confidence and creativity in more young people.

Favourite drama game: Park Bench, I love seeing the crazy characters that a bit of improvisation can bring!
Favourite word: Splosh.
Happy place: In a theatre somewhere, or perhaps a beach. Or a theatre on a beach!

I have always been drama-mad. I can remember putting on plays to an audience of teddies when I was 6 years old, they thought it was superb! I graduated from University with a BA Honours Degree in Drama in 2015. Since then I have taught drama to young people in England and China. I've never wanted to do anything else with my life and I love seeing that same passion reflected in the young people I teach.

Favourite drama game: Exaggeration circle - Take a movement and make it bigger and more dramatic!
Favourite word: Ganache
Happy place: In a theatre, or people watching in a city whilst eating cake.
My mum took me to the theatre for the first time when I was 7, and I haven't stopped talking about it since.
I used to sit on the swing in my parents garden performing my heart out as though I was the only one who could hear (I wasn't)! I graduated from the University of Winchester with a BA Hons degree in Drama a few years ago and went on to teach both in the UK and China. Now that I'm no longer a child, I love working with children, and getting to teach the thing I'm most passionate about!
